Seattle Motorcyclist Killed on I-5 Near JBLM

On Behalf of | Dec 16, 2015 | Motorcycle Accidents

By Pendergast Law on December 16, 2015

At the end of November, a Seattle resident was unfortunately killed in an accident here in Seattle. The 76-year-old rider died in a motorcycle accident that happened on Interstate 5. According to witnesses, the man lost control of his motorcycle and fell off. While trying to get back on his bike, he was struck by a semi-truck. The accident happened near the main gate of Joint Base Lewis-McChord  (JBLM).

Police said the motorcyclist was killed instantly in the collision. The driver of the semi-truck stopped and remained at the scene. He was not injured. Washington State Patrol is still investigating this accident.

Riding a motorcycle is one of the most dangerous things you can do. A motorcycle doesn’t have the same protection cars and trucks do. They don’t have frames that weigh thousands of pounds, seat belts, or airbags. Cars and trucks are also much larger and heavier than motorcycles. No matter how safe a rider you are, you can still easily get hurt in an accident. For most riders, the question isn’t how they’ll be in an accident, but when.

An accident like this is a tragedy. Hardwick & Pendergast, P.S. has helped families through these situations before. If you’ve been injured in a motorcycle accident or if you’ve lost a loved one in a crash, we can help. Contact us today to discuss your situation.
