Police Vehicle Crashes with Taxi at Spokane Intersection

On Behalf of | Feb 12, 2013 | Intersection Accidents

A Spokane County deputy was in a recent car accident with a taxicab after allegedly running through a flashing red light. According to a KREM news report, the accident occurred at the intersection of 2nd and Monroe in Spokane. Investigators say the deputy failed to stop at the light before crashing into the passenger side of the taxi. Neither of the motorists was reportedly injured. It is not clear if the deputy will be charged for the crash.

Under Washington State Statute 46.61.050, “The driver of any vehicle, every bicyclist, and every pedestrian shall obey the instructions of any official traffic control device applicable thereto placed in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, unless otherwise directed by a traffic or police officer.” This means that all motorists must come to a complete stop at all stop signs and red lights.

If someone has run through an intersection and injured you or a loved one, do not hesitate to call an experienced personal injury lawyer. Financial compensation may be available for your medical bills, lost wages, hospitalization, pain and suffering, and other related damages. This process may not be easy, however, if the at-fault driver refuses responsibility for the crash.

A skilled Washington intersection crash lawyer will work with investigators, witnesses to the crash, and medical professionals to determine the cause of the crash and the severity of the losses suffered by the victim. If the other driver is on the job at the time, his or her employer can also be held liable.
